When a new game begins, a 52-card deck will be dealt out into 7 columns in a manner where the first column only has 1 card, while the second column has 6 cards, to which the number of cards is increased by one for each subsequent column (6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11). The 5 top-most cards of each column is faced up while the remaining cards are faced down.

Cards on the tableau are built based on ascending order regardless of suit. All faced up cards can be played, even if they are not the top-most card in the column. However, this means that all the cards on top of it will also be moved at the same time. For example, if you have a column with a 7 of Spades below a 10 of Hearts, and you want to move it to another column with an 8 of Spades, both cards will be moved together ending the sequence with the 10 of Hearts on top.

To win a game of Yukon Soltaire, you are required to fill up the 4 Foundation Piles at the top with their respective card suits, such as hearts, spades, cloves, and diamonds. This is done in ascending order, starting from Ace to King.

There is not a Draw Pile in Yukon, as all cards are on the tableau itself. Hence, if no more moves can be made, the game will be over.

• The most important step before doing anything is to check out the tableau first and confirm the cards that are faced upwards. This is to ensure you don't miss out on any obvious moves from the start and helps you plan your next moves.


• Uncover as many cards on the tableau as soon as you can. Since you can move any faced up cards and not just the top-most ones, when all cards are faced up, your probability of winning increases exponentially.


• Move any Aces you uncover immediately to the foundation piles. You can’t build anything below an Ace.


• Just like the regular Klondike, you should prioritize moving cards to the foundation piles to create more openings for other cards.


• Try not to create an empty column as this will reduce the number of columns in play, unless you have a King with a good sequence lined up.


• Use the Hint or Undo feature. This is a last resort for most players, but if you are determined to get a win, there is no shame in getting a hint from the computer or undoing a misstep.
